Become a Strong Leader of Your Virtual Team
It can be overwhelming to run an online biz and be a strong leader for your team. I’m sure you guessed it, but I’m 100% speaking from experience here so I wanted to share a few ways to help you become a strong leader of your virtual team.
Communication, communication and more communication
As a leader of a team this should be at the top of the list. BUT I can’t tell you how many business owners I’ve chatted with who can’t remember the last time they engaged with their team members. Establishing clear communication channels is nonnegotiable for me and my team. As a virtual leader, it’s important to establish clear communication channels with your team. This includes setting expectations around response times, scheduling virtual meetings, and using collaboration tools like zoom and project management software.
Be genuine and relatable
Building trust & genuine relationships with your virtual team is crucial to developing a strong team dynamic. This can be done through regular check-ins, virtual team building activities, and providing opportunities for team members to connect on a personal level. Since you oversee a virtual team it is even more important that you check in regularly.
Lead with expectations
Setting clear goals and expectations for your virtual team is essential to keeping everyone aligned and on track. This includes setting measurable objectives, providing regular feedback and recognition, and holding team members accountable for their work.
There are tons of ways to become a strong leader of your virtual team, but these are the things that have worked for me. Well, at least no one on my team has told me that they aren’t working. 😉
